Vitamins Are Cool

Since we seem not to eat properly it leaves it up to us to take vitamins and supplements to stay healthy.

But we also should realize that not all vitamins are created equal Some could even be quite toxic. Too much A can casue problems since A is a fat soluble vitamin. Too much could hide out in your fat and...
You get the idea. Vitamins are either fat soluble or water soluble.
The best idea, of course, is to eat right and get your nutrients that way.  And you should, but you don't..
When you buy vitamins online you want to be sure of your brand. Find out where they manufacture the synthetic vitamin. Better yet, you should look for a food based vitamin --one that is picked from the ground and rushed into the processing plant and made into the capsule for you.
A company named Nutrilite does this. They grow their own and pack their own. I use to sell them but now I refer people to Amazon which caries them. Order and have them shipped to your house. I recommend as a starter the 31-day pack which can be renewed each month. You pay for good quality in the product.

Statins-A Ticking Bomb

Recently I had a blood test to see about my cholesterol level.  A good level should be under 200 with the LDL cholesterol under 100 and my Triglycerides to be under 100 also.
I have been having no problems. It was just a routine blood test that went along with my annual checkup.
I was informed I needed to start taking 20mg of Simvastatin (Zocor)-- a statin.
Why? My cholesterol was somewhat over 200. I have the risk factor of age. I am over 45 years of age.
I was prescribed 20 mg of Simvastatin.. bomb.
The answer to whether or not your should take statins is age, are you a man or a woman, and do you have a diagnosis of atherosclerosis.
I am male. I am over 45. But no atherosclerosis.
Humm. Maybe she is being paid by the drug people to prescribe it.
   Statins have side effects.
  1. Muscle pain and muscle damage
  2. Nerve damage
  3. Cognitive dysfunction\Tendonitis and tendon rupture
  4. Joint pain and stiffness
  5. Liver damage/liver function abnormalities
  6. Unmasking of mitochondrial dysfunction
  7. Lou Gehrig's disease
  8. Increase in diabetes
  9. Congenital defects in the children of women who took statins in  pregnancy
Sound to me like it is not really needed. Except if you have had proven atherosclerosis. It may cut down on the chances then of a recurring heart attack. But to just give it to everyone over the age of forty five because the drug companies have sold the doctor on the necessity of prescribing this time bomb.. it makes it questionable in my eyes.
Let me give you a link to a book you can read and make up your own mind.
The Truth About Statins: Risks and Alternatives to Cholesterol-Lowering Drugs
Let each person make up their own mind.
   Good health to all.
