Vitamin Information On the Internet May Not Be Positive

Recently I was going through the internet looking for information on vitamins. I started noticing strange things. Not all the information on the internet is for vitamin supplementation.
That is strange since I am  sure we don't get enough fruits and vegetables in our die daily to be able to give up supplementation all together.
Of course I may have been pulling up other vitamin store information., And you know they are trying hard to have you buy vitamins from them. But then again I was noticing these are articles from other magazines, not from other dealers.
The Atlantic warns against large supplementation doses. Okay. I am not for large doses either. I will say take it carefully. But I will also provide it for you. I am not at all for toxicity of the product. That would be a misuse of the product.
The word says it all--supplement. Not replacement'
So, okay, vitamin information on the internet may not be positive. They are trying tro reach a large audience. But I want to say a supplement, if properly used, is good.
One article says not to take C, D, E, A and beta carotene or multivitamins. I don't go that far.
I will say be careful. Talk to your care provider. Vitamins are considered drugs that are untested by the FDA.  But if used properly they can only help. Remember the word Supplements.
A supplement is something you use in addition to- not in place of.
Vitamins are not the replacement for food. The are in addition to.

You Would Think...

Prostate Problems?

For some reason unknown to me people aren't buying vitamins online. At least not from my store. Not from Dane's Vitamin Shoppe located on the web.
You would think with the people now going on the web to search for products, that people would be buying items. I have been told that vitamins sell well and people are buying.
Yes, I understand there are many stores online. Some brick and mortar have a presence there along with the feel and touch establishments.
Buying your vitamins online speeds up the process. You order online. The order is received. It is packed. It is shipped. You pay through credit card or PayPal. You save the frustration of waiting in  traffic and once you get to the mall or store, searching for that parking space. Once inside the store you need to search and find and then stand in a line, or use the frustrating self checkout machine that most of the time slows you down.
Let's say you are male and you need to purchase Saw Palmetto. It is not that you expect to cure a large prostate but it will make your bathroom excursion a little more profitable, you just order online.
Buying from Dane's Vitamin Shoppe is fast and as you are no doubt ordering before the vitamins you need are used up..
You would think people would want to go online for their vitamin needs.

Is a Vegetarian Diet Okay?

First off let me say it seems to be hard to have a true vegetarian diet. This is a diet that leaves out eggs and meat protein.
It is hard since the food eaten by the average American per year includes 214 pounds of meat (red meat, fish, chicken) along with  32 pounds of egg and 600 pounds of dairy products (including milk)
The fruit consumption is around 644 pounds which include vegetables. When it comes to potatoes we consume around 67 pounds. When we eat grains the amount in pounds becomes 150 pounds.
Soft drinks we consume is about 46 gallons. We consume about 26 gallons of alcoholic beverages. We are not looking at coffee or tea or chocolate.
I don't know what ther developing world consumes.
I will define an adequate diet as that which provides a sufficient amount needed of nutrients and energy for human maintenance, growth and reproduction.
So the question to ask is, can we get an adequate diet being on a vegetarian diet?
There are two ways to look at the question. Are we talking vegan or lacto-ovo vegetarian?
A vegan will stay away from all foods of animal origin. When we look at the lacto-ovo vegetarian we see a person who only abstains from eating meat and fish. The problem could be that  for the vegan eliminating all types of animal products opens a person to the risk of certain nutritional deficiencies. To do so cuts one off from vitamins B12 and D, along with calcium and the long-chained fatty acids.
B12 is useful for cell division and blood formation. D helps in many ways and I am sure I covered D earlier in my blog posts.  Calcium is good for bone formation and organ maintenance.
I don't think it very smart to cut out eggs as they are a form or protein and the body needs protein.
Let me hear from you. Let's start a conversation.

Good Health Through Vitamins- Not Always through Health Food Alone

I realize the readership on this blog has almost disappeared. It is because I haven't spent any time here. I need in this blog series of posting to keep you aware that vitamins are needed to keep your body healthy and in good repair. It really does
Not all of our nutrients that we need can be obtained by what we eat alone. And this is not a discussion on vegan vs vegetarian vs meat eater. It is just a fact
There is a missing ingredient for good health and I can offer you an e-book  . It will explain what you need to know. And I will have kept this blog post alive.
Just check the digital offering out and see if it doesn't help.
Along with this knowledge you will, of course, need the supplements that are out there. Health food alone won't do it. Our bodies need good food and good supplements to operate correctly.
